1. What is 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS Professional?
3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS is a 3D CAD design program with the same industry-leading functionality, features, and tools as desktop SOLIDWORKS Professional, but it leverages cloud data management. You can securely save all your design data to the cloud and easily share and connect with other makers. Please note, commercial products and Add-Ins are not supported or included with this version of 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS for Makers.
2. Which applications are cloud connected (installed locally) and which are browser-based?
3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS (SOLIDWORKS Connected) and NC Shop Floor Programmer are software programs that are locally installed onto your computer with Windows® 10 or Windows 11 operating system. 3D Creator (xDesign) and 3D Sculptor (xShape) are browser-based and do not require any installation on your computer. Please note, 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS (SOLIDWORKS Connected) cannot be installed on the same computer as a SOLIDWORK desktop application.
3. What export file formats does the software support to help make your ideas a reality?
Export your designs to DXF, OBJ, STL and other file formats for CNC machining, laser cutting, and 3D printing.
4. Who can use 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS for Makers?
3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS for Makers is a DIY CAD software designed for personal, non-commercial use. If you sell your products and make more than $2,000 in profit per year, you will no longer be eligible for this offer.
5. Is there a community or forum for sharing ideas and getting help?
You will have access to multiple maker communities, including the Maker Support Community, where you’ll find peers and experts ready to answer all your questions, and the Made in 3D Community, where hobbyists around the world share their designs and ideas.
6. Can files created with 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS for Makers open with SOLIDWORKS commercial or educational solutions?
Files and data created with your Maker account are digitally watermarked and can only be opened in another Maker platform. You cannot open files created with your Maker account within a commercial or academic platform. This digital watermark is added to native 3D file formats, such as .3dxml, .sldprt, .sldasm, and .slddrw. Neutral 3D file formats, such as .stp or .iges can be opened on any platform.
