Learn to Optimize Designs in SOLIDWORKS Simulation

Discover how a series of simulations will optimize your designs

If you are new to SOLIDWORKS® Simulation, you should know that a single simulation does not reveal how to optimize the product.

SOLIDWORKS Simulation's optimization analysis tool allows designers to create a series of simulation studies that vary model dimensions to accomplish an engineering goal.

There are 3 major parts to an optimization analysis includes:

  •  Variables are the properties of a simulation input that are user-modified.
  •  Parameters are desired output ranges or values of an optimization study.
  •  Goals are an output of a simulation, and it defines the desired result.

When the optimization analysis completes, the study indicates which set of dimensions produces the most optimal design that accomplishes the engineering goal.
